Pylon Lookout – An alternative to the Harbour Bridge climb
Sweeping view of Sydney’s Harbour from this famous icon - - the Sydney Harbour Bridge!
There are 200 stairs to the Pylon Lookout™, 87 metres above mean sea level, but on the way up there are 3 levels of exhibits where you will discover the history and construction of the Sydney Harbour Bridge, the men who built it, and the vision of its chief engineer. The entrance is located in the South East Pylon of the Sydney Harbour Bridge.
Access is via the pedestrian pathway on the Eastern side of the Bridge from the city side (use the 'Bridge Stairs' in Cumberland Street, The Rocks). Or if you are coming from the North side use the steps near Milsons Point Railway Station.
Entry: General Admission 13 years and over $9.50 Children 8-12 $4.00, under 7 free.
Open 7 days, from 10.00am to 5.00pm.

The Museum's opening times are currently 9.30am - 5.00pm. Lots of interactive spots for kids of all ages. Special exhibitions in fashion, science and music.
The Museum is open every day except Christmas Day.
Tickets can always be purchased at the door. Some special exhibitions also offer pre-sale ticketing which helps avoid queues at peak periods.

Australian Museum

Taronga Park Zoo
Half the fun is getting to this zoo. By Ferry across the harbour or even driving through the beautiful suburb of Mosman. This is a world-class zoo that went under extensive renovation a few years back. It is of course more than a zoo with numerous conservation and breeding programs.
For a really special treat see their 'Roar & Snore' sleepover events.

Ku-Ring-Gai-Chase National Park
Another popular spot to enjoy nature. The Hawkesbury River meets the sea so there lots of winding creeks and beaches to just relax.
From Terry Hills and Duffys Forest there's an area for horse riding. There are numerous 'marked' walks from 1.8 km to more strenuous 11km. See site for more precise details. There's also fishing for flathead, snapper, mullet, bream and tailor but first you will need a licence to fish.

Bobbin Head Road - Bobbin Head
Royal National Park
Sydneysiders flock to this park which around a 40 minute drive from the city centre. Its a traditional place for a Sunday BBQ and picnic and perhaps a swim either at Wattamolla, on the beach or in the lagoon. Access is free but you do have to pay for each vehicle around $11.
You can also fish at Curracurrang but you will need a licence. Hire a boat at Audley and row up the Hacking River. You can also camp but you will need to reserve. See government site below for more details. Difficult to access via public transport.

Royal Botanic Gardens
A beautiful oasis in the heart of the city and a great place for the kids to run wild. Each Saturday the park is full of couples getting married and waiting their turn at Lady Macquarie's Chair for one of the best backdrops for their wedding photoes of the Sydney Harbour. Don't miss the glasshouse and walk around the the Art Gallery and the Rose Garden Pavilion and the Sydney Tropical Centre.
