A little more up-market than the numerous take-away sushi bars you will find scattered across Sydney’s Food courts. This one is hidden on the 4th floor of the Establishment. You will find tempting choices like Spicy Campi with warm chillies and miso soup or spicy tuna roll from $16.50 for six pieces. A great city hideway for a quick bite while touring the sites of the city.

Longrain

Situated in downtown Surry Hills (one also in Melbourne) this restaurant has been popular in Sydney for over 10 years for its modern Thai-chinese fusion and exotic combinations. There a cocktail bar and communal dining is different. Menu prices start at $28 upt to $39 for dishes so depending on how many dishes can be expensive, but the quality of dishes such as Mussaman curry of Mandagery creek venison and crisp organic duck is exceptional.

This is how Sydneysider like their fish and chips, starting with an ale or cider at the pub opposite. Tetsuya's Restaurant - All hail the King

As far as most Australian diners are concerned, this is the best restaurant in Australia and a strong contender for top ten in the world each year.

From humble beginnings in his Balmain restaurant, Tetsuya now operates from the city centre in elegant Japanese surroundings (the former Suntory House). His food is a fusion of Japenese and French but there's no explanation needed, anyone going here probably already knows what to expect.
